Maggi is a brand of seasonings, instant soups, and noodles owned by Nestlé.
Maggi Ban In India
In 2015, around 38,000 tonnes of Maggi Noodles were pulled from shelves and destroyed. This followed a routine inspection by Uttar Pradesh’s Food Safety and Drug Administration, which found that Maggi packets labeled "no added MSG" actually contained the additive. Further testing revealed lead levels over 1,000 times higher than Nestle India's claims, leading to a nationwide recall ordered by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
In 2017, Maggi Noodles were flagged again in Uttar Pradesh for exceeding permissible ash content levels for human consumption. Nestle responded by attributing the issue to incorrect standards, maintaining that their product was safe and compliant with regulations.
